[The National Archives: W012/1896; 1958-1963; 2011-2014; 2016-2017 Regimental Muster rolls]
| It is unclear from the musters which of the four Battalions he enlisted with, although by Sep 1809 he was with the 4th as shown by clear annotation showing his origins, noted in the lists in order to differentiate between himself and another Robert Dixon serving at the same time. Unfortunately this is not always done. |
| The last British corps to leave French territory. |
| The Battalion formed part of the Army of Occupation in France. |
| Waterloo Man or WM appears as an annotation on many subsequent entries. |
| The 3rd Battalion was disbanded on 24 Apr 1817 on the reduction of the army, and the men transferred to the 1st or 2nd Battalions |
| Not traced on the 2nd Battalion muster rolls until Aug 1818, due to the long voyage to India and the march to join the Service Companies in Secunderabad. |
